Our Story
Guided by care, grounded in the law
Metta Counsel was founded on one belief: that people navigating family matters deserve to feel heard and respected, not hurried. Our practice brings that commitment to every client and every matter.
Back to HomeWho We Are
A practice built on listening
Metta Counsel was established in Bangkok by lawyers who had each spent years in larger practices and noticed the same gap: families coming through difficult moments were often processed efficiently, but rarely felt truly supported. The intention with Metta was to do things differently from the start.
The name Metta comes from the Pali word for loving-kindness — a concept deeply rooted in Thai and Buddhist tradition. It shapes the way we approach every consultation, every mediation, and every court matter. We are not indifferent to what our clients are going through. We believe that legal work done well is also care given well.
Our office on Sukhumvit Soi 24 has been serving families in Bangkok since 2017. Over those years, we have helped parents reach parenting arrangements, supported couples through separation, and guided individuals through the formal court process when that became necessary. In each case, the work begins with listening.
Our Mission
To provide family legal support in Bangkok that is both professionally sound and genuinely humane — where the complexity of Thai family law is made clear and navigable for everyone who comes to us.
Our Values
- Listening before advising
- Clarity in all communication
- Respect for all parties, always
- Honesty about what is realistic

Family legal support in Bangkok — what to look for
Finding appropriate legal support for a family matter in Bangkok can feel uncertain, particularly for those unfamiliar with the Thai court system or who are navigating the process for the first time. The landscape of family law in Thailand covers a wide range of situations — from parenting arrangements and custody considerations, to support agreements and formal court petitions — and the right practitioner will take time to understand your specific circumstances before suggesting a route forward.
At Metta Counsel, our work centres on three areas: initial consultations that help individuals understand their options clearly, mediation and agreement support for those seeking a resolution between parties, and formal court representation when that becomes the appropriate path. Each of these services is designed to be proportionate to what the situation actually calls for.
We serve clients across Bangkok and are experienced in matters involving both Thai nationals and foreign residents. Our office on Sukhumvit Soi 24 is accessible from the BTS Phrom Phong station, and we accommodate remote consultations for those who prefer them or who are located elsewhere. Our fees are set out clearly from the outset, and we do not proceed with work beyond what has been agreed with the client.
