Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before engaging the services of Metta Counsel. By enquiring about, or proceeding with, our services, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not proceed.
1. Definitions
- "Metta Counsel" refers to the legal practice operating at 41/6 Sukhumvit Soi 24, Khlong Tan, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, Thailand.
- "Client" or "you" means any individual who engages or seeks to engage the services of Metta Counsel.
- "Services" means the legal consultation, mediation support, and court representation services provided by Metta Counsel.
- "Engagement" means the formal agreement between the Client and Metta Counsel to provide specific services.
- "Fees" means the charges payable by the Client for Services provided, as agreed in writing or verbally prior to commencement.
2. Acceptance of Terms
These terms apply to all clients and prospective clients who contact, consult with, or engage Metta Counsel. By proceeding with any service engagement, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement under Thai law.
3. Description of Services
Metta Counsel provides three core services for family matters in Thailand:
- Family Consultation and Listening — A private consultation to understand your situation and explain the legal options available to you.
- Mediation and Agreement Support — Facilitated mediation to support both parties in reaching fair arrangements, including drafting of written agreements.
- Family Court Representation — Legal representation in Bangkok Family Court and related proceedings, including document preparation and court attendance.
Services are available to clients in Bangkok and the Bangkok Metropolitan Region. Remote consultations may be available for clients located outside Bangkok. Geographic limitations on court matters are determined by Thai jurisdictional rules.
4. Engagement and Fees
4.1 Engagement
An engagement commences when both the client and Metta Counsel have agreed in writing or verbally on the scope and fee for the services to be provided. No work will be carried out beyond the agreed scope without prior agreement from the client.
4.2 Fees
Published starting fees are as follows:
- Family Consultation and Listening: ฿1,800 per session
- Mediation and Agreement Support: from ฿5,600 (final fee agreed per matter)
- Family Court Representation: from ฿9,400 (final fee agreed per matter)
All fees are denominated in Thai Baht. A written fee estimate or engagement letter will be provided before any work subject to additional fees begins.
4.3 Payment
Payment terms are as agreed at the time of engagement. Metta Counsel reserves the right to pause work if agreed payments are not received within the timeframe discussed.
4.4 Cancellations and refunds
Consultation fees are payable upon booking. If you need to cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, the session fee may not be refunded. Mediation and representation fees are refunded on a pro-rata basis for work not yet commenced at the time of cancellation, at Metta Counsel's reasonable discretion.
5. Client Responsibilities
To enable Metta Counsel to provide effective services, clients are asked to:
- Provide accurate and complete information relevant to their matter
- Inform Metta Counsel promptly of any changes to circumstances that may affect the matter
- Respond to requests for information or documentation in a timely manner
- Maintain respectful communication with Metta Counsel team members
Metta Counsel accepts no responsibility for adverse outcomes resulting from inaccurate or withheld information provided by the client.
6. Confidentiality
All information shared with Metta Counsel in the course of a consultation or engagement is held in strict confidence, consistent with the professional obligations of the Lawyers Council of Thailand. Nothing will be disclosed to any third party without the client's explicit consent, except where required by Thai law or court order.
7. Intellectual Property
All documents, templates, and written materials produced by Metta Counsel in the course of its services remain the intellectual property of Metta Counsel unless otherwise agreed. Clients are granted a non-exclusive licence to use documents produced specifically for their matter for the purposes of that matter.

8. Disclaimers
Metta Counsel provides legal guidance and representation to the best of its professional ability. However:
- Legal outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including court decisions and the conduct of other parties
- Nothing in our consultations or correspondence constitutes a commitment to a specific outcome
- Information provided on our website is general in nature and does not constitute legal advice for any specific situation
9. Limitation of Liability
Metta Counsel's liability in connection with any engagement is limited to the fees paid by the client for the specific services at issue. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of our services or website, except to the extent required by applicable Thai law.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or matters that cannot lawfully be excluded under Thai law.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement by giving written notice. Metta Counsel will provide the client with any documents and materials related to their matter on request following termination. The client remains responsible for fees for work completed up to the date of termination.
Clauses relating to confidentiality, intellectual property, and liability survive termination of any engagement.
11. Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute arising from an engagement with Metta Counsel, we ask that you contact us first at [email protected] so that we may attempt to resolve the matter informally.
If the matter cannot be resolved informally, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Kingdom of Thailand, and governed by Thai law, including the Civil and Commercial Code of Thailand.
12. General Provisions
- Entire agreement: These terms, together with any written engagement letter or fee agreement, constitute the entire agreement between the parties for the services described.
- Severability: If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of the right to enforce it in the future.
- Assignment: Clients may not assign their rights under these terms without prior written consent from Metta Counsel.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Updated terms will be published on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of our services following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
